Frequently asked questions

1) What information is needed to ask for an estimate for the transport of a work of art?

It is necessary to know the essential features of the work (period created, dimensions, technical details, author and title), the type of packing required, the method of transport (if alone or together with other works of art) and the features of the access points for pick up and delivery of the work of art.
If they exist, date limits for the collection or delivery can also lead to changes in the price of transport.

2) What type of packing do you provide?

There are three main packing methods: soft packing, cage packing and crate packing.
By soft packing we mean a type of packing made directly on site using materials like tissue, TNT (tissue not tissue), pluriball, cartons and L sections. It offers lower resistance to knocks and vibrations but nevertheless preserves the work from any damage in shorter transits at a lower cost.
Cage packing on the other hand consists of a tailor made wooden structure to house the work. It offers greater resistance to side knocks with lesser encumbrance and weight than a crate.
Finally crate packing is the packing method that ensures the greatest resistance in transit. Our company has a joinery department capable of creating tailor made fireproof and waterproof wooden crates packed inside with materials capable of absorbing knocks and vibrations; we also supply climate controlled crates on request.

3) What insurance cover do you provide?

On request we can stipulate all risk insurance for you on the value declared by you that covers any “nail to nail” damage.
